Small sided games have been incorporated more often into the teaching of athletics, utilizing activities with directed purpose and constraints to help athletes learn new skills.
Can this concept be expanded to the classroom?
In this session we will explore the concept of the Small Sided Game and how the classroom teacher can help students learn skills in engaging ways by playing open, but constrained, games. The key take aways from this session will include:
- How do I encourage kids to fail successfully?
- How do I, as an instructor, design games that encourage students to find their solutions?
- How do I utilize this process to enable the gifted learner the freedom to be challenged?
