The theater is a safe place to try new things, make mistakes and learn from others. Along with developing creativity, theatrical tools teach problem solving, critical reasoning and collaboration. During this interactive session, learn activities that promote risk-taking, affective resilience, non-verbal responsiveness and social mindfulness. This is NOT your typical sit and get session. Participants will engage in creative dramatics activities that can increase motivation, improve achievement, or assist in developing social engagement. The emphasis will be on how to use these activities with gifted students to develop strategies for dealing with failure, relieving stress and finding focus. A set of K-12 cross-curricular activities to increase social and emotional development will be provided.
